Theme Announced for 2012 Lisbon Lilac Festival



The Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce recently announced the theme for the 25th Annual Lilac Time Festival to be held Memorial Day weekend in Lisbon, NH, May 27th -29th.

This years theme is one of memories and nostalgia Gone but not forgotten.

Enthusiasm is already being generated in the community for ideas for parade floats and decorating.

The Lilac Time Festival will once again be co chaired by Janice Choate, Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce Board Member and Cathy Burke, Lisbon Main Street, Inc., Director.

The trade mark parade featuring theme floats and an abundance of the fragrant lilac flowers will also welcome the newly crowned Miss New Hampshire, Mc Lures Alumni Band, the Mad Bavarian Brass Band and the Fernald Lumber Yankee Horse Hitch. The popular Millers Amusement Rides will open Friday evening with a special one price bracelet for all rides May 27th, the rides will be open throughout the weekend.

Entertainment in Chevron Park will begin Saturday morning with Blue grass music from the well known Parker Hill Road Band. Delightful Concerts will follow throughout the day, with local bands performing. The parade will start promptly at 11:00am. This years Grand Marshalls will be two of the women who helped spur the first Lilac Festival in 1981, Aggie Andross and Barbara Ashley. Aggie and Barbara have continually brought humor and organization to the annual event. We salute their generosity to the community.


The Arts Gallery will sponsor a Craft Fair and Sale on Saturday May 28, on the Shared Ministry Church lawn. Contact Kathy Stevens for more info at 838 - 6675. Vendors, Crafters and Artists will occupy the sidewalks of Lisbon during the three - day event.

Lisbon Main Streets Annual Chili Chowder Cook Off will be held Sunday May 28, from 11am to 2pm. For entry applications call 838- 2200. Taste the the best chili and chowder in the North Country. The Lisbon Lions, will offer their tasty sausage sandwiches Saturday and the area churches will provide home cooked food and goodies. The Friends in Council will hold a bake sale on Saturday morning. Arrive early to buy some great pies and cakes.

Take time to participate in the Art Gallery?s Peoples Art Show, help judge the winners of art in numerous mediums.

The traditional Memorial Shared Ministry Church Service and dedications will be held Sunday morning.

The Northern New Hampshire Fire Apparatus Parade followed by Fireworks brings a climax to the downtown Lilac Festival, Sunday evening.

New Hampshires twenty fifth annual Lilac Festival will have a grand finish at the Lisbon Village Country Club where the Lilac Golf Tournament will be held on Monday May 29th. For additional information please call (603)838 -2200.
