10:00AM Sledding @ Kanc Recreation Center (FREE EVENT)

Join the Activities team as we head over to the local recreation center for a few hours of sledding! Transportation and sleds will be provided!
12:00PM Snowman Building Contest (FREE EVENT)
Once we meet at the Rec. desk we will head outside to see who can make the most amazing snowman!!
3:00PM Decoupaqe Plates ($3 per plate)
Bring your personal vacation photos, or use our brochures and pamphlets. Choose many different colors of tissue paper and word art to create a wonderful collage of your favorite memories of vacation!
4:00PM Candy Bar Bingo At South Mountain (Entry fee: 1 candy bar per card)
Event will be held in the meeting room at South Mountain. One candy bar per card is required as an entry fee. Bring the entire family, but don’t miss out on all the fun! This is the chance to show us your skills!
5:00PM Kids Night Out ($10.00 per child CASH ONLY)
Come meet at the activities desk to drop the kids off with Meghan for a few hours of FUN!! Anything can happen from swimming, arts and crafts, playing in the snow, movies, etc. the possibilities are endless. This is a chance for parents to get away from their kids for a few hours and have some time to themselves! Event will run for 2 hours.
7:00PM Children’s Movie Night — (FREE EVENT)
Come down to the lobby in your pj’s with blankets and pillows to watch a movie the whole family can enjoy. We will provide popcorn, so make sure to bring a drink.

10:30AM Snow Shoe over to Loon Mountain ($15 for the snow shoe rental or bring your own)
Come downstairs to be sized for snowshoes then we will take the bike trail over to Loon Mountain! This is a great beginner trip for anyone interested in snowshoeing.
1:00PM Design your own ceramic Piggy Bank ($3 per piggy bank) @ South Mountain
A great opportunity for the children to be creative in designing and painting their very own piggy bank. Its never to early to teach your children how to save money! Great for all ages!

8:00am Water Mix Aerobics @ Pollard Brook Pool ($5 per person)

Professional water aerobics instructor, Stacee Caulder will lead guests in a 1-hour session at the resort. Stacee will lead guests who are 18 years or older in a high energy water exercise she calls Aqua-Mix Aerobics. The class can accommodate the first 12 people who sign up. The class will be held in the indoor pool at Pollard which will be open exclusively for this class. Participants need not be able to swim but must feel comfortable in the water. A fee of $10 per session will be charged and can be charged to the guest’s unit.
10:00AM Toddler Paint Hour (FREE EVENT)
Bring the kids to the fun factory for a chance for them to meet other children and finger paint or paint a picture to bring home! This event is geared for children ages 1-6, older children are welcome to join in the fun!

We will head over to North Woodstock and meet with the Fadden Family and see how they make Maple Syrup. You will be able to observe the process in the modern facility as well as see an example of the way it was done in the good ole days.
5:00PM Wine & Cheese Social (FREE EVENT!)
Join your fellow resort mates for an evening of wine and cheese in a social environment! Event will run approximately 1 hour and will be held in the main lobby at InnSeason Resort Pollard Brook. Non-alcoholic bever ages will be provided for minors who wish to attend.
7:00PM Reindeer Cookies ($2 for 4 cookies)
Join Meghan in the Fun Factory to make a fun holiday treat. We will take Nutter Butter cookies, pretzels, M&Ms, and frosting to make a delicious treat that will look like a reindeer when finished!

Choose between making a layered chocolate brownie mix, spiral festive soup mix, or a special treat for your four legged friends with our layered dog biscuit mix! Take home a special treat as a great gift.
11:00PM Snowshoe The Flume Gorge ($15 Snowshoe Rental)
Join us as we head over to the famous Flume Gorge. The gorge itself is 800 feet long with 60-90ft walls. The total snowshoe hike is 2 miles, where you will see waterfalls, covered bridges, and amazing views of the area. This hike involves a good amount of uphill walking so be prepared!
2:30PM Sand Art ($2-$6 depends on the size of bottle) @ South Mountain
Join the Recreational staff in the Fun Factory were you will be making sand art!
7:00PM Movie Night (FREE EVENT) @ both Resorts

Join us as we head out on the Kanc over to Greeley Pond. This is a 3 mile round trip snowshoe hike. This is a somewhat difficult trail which meanders through the woods to Greeley Pond.

Tubing at Loon

Loon Mountain Snow Tubing: An Exciting Way to Slide on Snow

Please Note: Tubing will open Saturday, December 26, 2009, weather permitting!

Tubing is located at the Little Sister Chairlift on the east side of the mountain, adjacent to the Octagon Lodge!
Both lift-serviced tubing and walk-up tubing are available. Tubes are rented by the hour.
Please note: You must be 8 years old or older to use the chairlift for tubing.
Only Loon-issued tubes will be allowed on hill.

Tubing is continuous from day to night, offering 7 tubing sessions daily! All tubes are steerable and stoppable!
Loon also offers a terrific Tot tubing area located at the base of Little Sister. This area is for anyone under 8 years of age.

10:00AM Snow Shoe Sabbaday Falls & Rocky Gorge ($15 for snow shoe rentals)
We will meet downstairs at the Recreation Desk to set you up with your snowshoes and poles if you prefer. We will take the van to Rocky Gorge located off Rt 112. Rocky Gorge is a beautiful scenic area with a small gorge, waterfall, and mirror pond. The paths are paved, and the area is easily accessable for anyone. Then we will head back towards Sabbaday Falls, a 3 tier waterfall only a third of a mile into the woods. and make a stop there. This event is weather permitting, however if there is no snow at the time of the tour, we will still conduct the tour as a hike!

WInter is Here

We have been waiting patiently WINTER IS HERE!!! We are expecting our first major snow of the year to fall tomorrow. Loon Mountain will open on Friday Dec. 11th and will be making snow as conditions permit.

We will be starting up our Snowshoe trips and sledding trips. We are very excited. Watch for updates and pictures of the storm.

Holiday Craft Fair in Lincoln this Weekend Nov 14 & 15, 2009

HOLIDAY CRAFT FAIR

November 14th & 15th, 2009 The Lin-Wood Friends of Recreation is holding their 13th annual Holiday Craft Fair! The event will be held on November 14th from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm & November 15th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Lin-Wood High School Gymnasium, located on Main Street in Lincoln, NH.There are about 35 crafters that will be exhibiting their own handmade work. There will be door prizes every hour, of items made and donated by the crafters in attendance.
The Friends of Recreation will be selling lunch items from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, and having a bake sale during the two days.

Come visit me at he Craft Fair. I will have a booth set up where I will be selling my photography there.

We will take the van to Rocky Gorge located off Rt 112. Then we will head back towards Sabbaday Falls and make a stop there.
1:00PM Finger Stamp Place Cards (FREE EVENT) at Pollard Brook
These handy little birds are great seat markers and a fun activity! Create a place card for everyone joining you on Thanksgiving! You will create a turkey using your very own finger paint.
3:00PM Decoupaqe Plates ($3 per plate)
Bring your personal vacation photos, or use our brochures and pamphlets. Choose many different colors of tissue paper and word art to create a wonderful collage of your favorite memories of vacation!
5-8:00pm Meet and Greet with our Adventure Concierge, Eric Pyra At South Mountain

This is a great chance to involve your entire family! You will start by cutting out construction paper turkey feathers, body and feet. You will give each member of your family a feather to write what the or she is thankful for this year. Once you get home, you mail them to your relatives and ask them to write what they are thankful for. On Thanksgiving day you can assemble your turkey and display for everyone to see! Sharing the sentiments of relatives who are far away makes the day even more special!
10:30 AM Hike Georgina Falls (FREE EVENT)1.6 - 2.6 miles round trip
Join Steve on a trip to Georgiana Falls! .8 miles into the woods you come upon the Lower Falls, which consists of a 30 foot high set of cascades spread across a 20 foot wide ledge. .5 miles further and you come across the Upper Falls, where the Harvard Brook splits in 2 and drops over 60 feet into the long chasm below. *Requires uphill climbing once at the falls*

Join the Recreational staff in the Fun Factory were you will be making sand art!
4:00pm Candy Bar Bingo At South Mountain (Entry fee: 1 candy bar per card)

7:00pm S’Mores by the Campfire at SOUTH MOUNTAIN (FREE EVENT!)
Children and adults are invited to the fire pit at South Mountain to make smores around the campfire. We will provide everything you need to make the perfect smore! The fire pit at South Mountain is in the back next to the outdoor pool.
8:00pm Children’s Movie Night (FREE EVENT)
Come down to the lobby in your pj’s with blankets and pillows to watch a movie the whole family can enjoy. We will provide popcorn, so make sure to bring a drink.

8:00am Water Mix Aerobics @ Pollard Brook Pool ($10 per person)
Professional water aerobics instructor, Stacee Caulder will lead guests in a 1-hour session at the resort. Stacee will lead guests who are 18 years or older in a high energy water exercise she calls Aqua-Mix Aerobics. The class can accommodate the first 12 people who sign up. The class will be held in the indoor pool at Pollard which will be open exclusively for this class. Participants need not be able to swim but must feel comfortable in the water. A fee of $10 per session will be charged and can be charged to the guest’s unit.
9:30AM Mount Washington Discovery Center($13 per person includes transportation)
The Mount Washington Observatory Weather Discovery Center in North Conway is an interactive science museum that brings the wonder of the atmosphere right to your fingertips The special admission price includes a brief orientation film, a facilitated exhibits visit with one of the museum staff, and a "virtual visit" to the summit of the mountain via video link.
1:00PM Caramel Apples ($1 per apple) @ Pollard Brook
Create your very own caramel apples with your favorite candy or nut topping! Event to be held in the Fun Factory @ Pollard Brook

($42 per person CASH ONLY)

The ever-changing surroundings, the magnificent views, the sights and sounds of the unique steam locomotives in action, and some of the steepest Railway tracks in existence all combine to place it among the best of the world’s great railway journeys. This is a trip that must be made to be fully appreciated! Trip is strictly caravan—you must take your own vehicle. This is a Cash Only trip and we must have a minimum of 20 people to go.
2:30 pm Festive Fall Wreath ($4 per wreath) @ Pollard Brook Come down to the Fun Factory and create a fall festive wreath. You will see how to make a wreath out of 2 x 2 inch fabric cut outs, Styrofoam circle, glue and a screwdriver. It’s a craft that will be enjoyed by all!

Come on down to our main lobby to see what our staff has come up with this year! Prizes will be awarded to the two best costumes of 2009. Join in the fun and be as creative as you’d like! Can YOU beat our employee’s costumes?
1:00PM Glass Painting ($3-$5 each, depending on which size you choose to paint.) @ Pollard Brook
Use acrylic based paints to create some glass masterpieces! Sizes range from small to large. Held in the Fun Factory at Pollard Brook.
7:00pm Pumpkin Carving ($4-7 depending on size of pumpkins)
In the Fun Factory we will be craving pumpkins. Please sign up for this event 24 hours in advance so we can buy enough pumpkins for everyone. You are also welcome to bring your own pumpkin and come down to the Fun Factory to carve. Everything for this event will be there.

Climb aboard our spectacular bus as we head up to the Windy Ridge Orchard. Cost is $25 per person and includes: your choice of lunch from the Cider House Café at the Windy Ridge Orchard, informational stops at 3 covered bridges, and a visit to the oldest General Store in the country. 4-5 hour trip.

Join us at South Mountain as we take peanut butter, bird seed, and other things to create a bird feeder to attract all the winged creatures in your area! Very quick and easy craft!

8:00am Water Mix Aerobics @ Pollard Brook Pool ($10 per person)
Professional water aerobics instructor, Stacee Caulder will lead guests in a 1-hour session at the resort. Stacee will lead guests who are 18 years or older in a high energy water exercise she calls Aqua-Mix Aerobics. The class can accommodate the first 12 people who sign up. The class will be held in the indoor pool at Pollard which will be open exclusively for this class. Participants need not be able to swim but must feel comfortable in the water. A fee of $10 per session will be charged and can be charged to the guest’s unit.
9:30AM Mount Washington Discovery Center($13 per person includes transportation)
The Mount Washington Observatory Weather Discovery Center in North Conway is an interactive science museum that brings the wonder of the atmosphere right to your fingertips The special admission price includes a brief orientation film, a facilitated exhibits visit with one of the museum staff, and a "virtual visit" to the summit of the mountain via video link. The Discovery Center is normally closed, but will be opening just for our visit.

Create your very own caramel apples with your favorite candy or nut topping! Event to be held in the Fun Factory @ Pollard Brook
3:00pm Fadden's Sugar House and General Store (Free Event) (Pick up @ both Resorts)
We will head over to North Woodstock and meet with the Fadden Family and see how they make Maple Syrup. You will be able to observe the process in the modern facility as well as see an example of the way it was done in the good ole days.

Join your fellow resort mates for an evening of wine and cheese in a social environment! Event will run approximately 1 hour and will be held in the main lobby at InnSeason Resort Pollard Brook. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided for minors who wish to attend.

($42 per person CASH ONLY)

The ever-changing surroundings, the magnificent views, the sights and sounds of the unique steam locomotives in action, and some of the steepest Railway tracks in existence all combine to place it among the best of the world’s great railway journeys. This is a trip that must be made to be fully appreciated! Trip is strictly caravan—you must take your own vehicle. This is a Cash Only trip and we must have a minimum of 20 people to go.
9:00 am Cabot Creamery ($20.00 per person includes admission )
Cabot Creamery is a farm family-owned cooperative located in the hills of Vermont producing all natural, award– winning cheeses, including the "World's Best Cheddar", as well as a tasty variety of flavored cheddars. Join Steve as he will be taking you to Vermont and you can see for yourself why they have the “World’s Best Cheddar.” Lunch will be on your own we will be stopping during this trip. 5-6 hour tour
4:00 pm Festive Fall Wreath ($4 per wreath) @ Pollard Brook Come down to the Fun Factory and create a fall festive wreath. You will see how to make a wreath out of 2 x 2 inch fabric cut outs, Styrofoam circle, glue and a screwdriver. It’s a craft that will be enjoyed by all!

9:00AM A Thanksgiving Turkey (FREE EVENT)

This is a great chance to involve your entire family! You will start by cutting out construction paper turkey feathers, body and feet. You will give each member of your family a feather to write what the or she is thankful for this year. Once you get home, you mail them to your relatives and ask them to write what they are thankful for. On Thanksgiving day you can assemble your turkey and display for everyone to see! Sharing the sentiments of relatives who are far away makes the day even more special!
10:30 AM Hike Georgina (FREE EVENT)1.6 - 2.6 miles round trip
Join Steve on a trip to Georgiana Falls! .8 miles into the woods you come upon the Lower Falls, which consists of a 30 foot high set of cascades spread across a 20 foot wide ledge. .5 miles further and you come across the Upper Falls, where the Harvard Brook splits in 2 and drops over 60 feet into the long chasm below. *Requires uphill climbing once at the falls*
1:00PM Playground Games
Join the Recreational staff outside and play all sorts of kids games. Freeze Tag, Red Light Green Light, Red Rover, Capture the Flag, Hopscotch, and Sidewalk Chalk. Please sign up in advance. This event geared for children ages 3-8.
4:00pm Candy Bar Bingo At South Mountain (Entry fee: 1 candy bar per card)

Columbus Day Weekend Events & Happenings around Lincoln

This is a partial list of things that are going on around Lincoln this Weekend:

Lincoln:
14th Annual Lincoln Fall Craft Festival at the Lincoln Village Shops. Outdoor Arts and Craft Festival in the heart of the White Mountains Featuring 150 Booths of American made arts, crafts, food and live music. Free Admission ~ Rain or Shine.

Oktoberfest @ Loon Mountain.
This year’s Oktoberfest plans to be bigger and better than ever. We’re moving the whole show over to the Governor’s Lodge. That means more German music, more German food, and definitely more German beer!
What could be more fun than sharing a beautiful day with your friends and the Alpiner Oom-Pah Band? It's the 2009 Loon Mountain Oktoberfest. German music, German food, and German beer. There is no charge to enter the event; food and beer is ala carte.
Both days the party kicks off at 11 am when the grills fire up at the Octagon Lodge. Close your eyes and smell the sauerkraut, stew, strudel, bratwurst, and knockwurst.

Flying Yankee Open House at Hobo RR

Flying Yankee Restoration Group hosts guided, historical tours of the 1935 Flying Yankee Passenger Train.
The event will take place rain or shine and will feature ongoing guided tours of the Flying Yankee inside and out permitting folks of all ages to get an up-close view of this historic train. Reservations are not required for the guided tours and there will be no entry fee to enjoy the Open House, but tax-deductible donations for the ongoing restoration project will be greatly appreciated.

Sandwich, NH
The Sandwich Fair will once again happen on Columbus Day Weekend. Just a short drive away the Sandwich Fair is one of the last Fairs of the season. A good time for families of all ages.
Come enjoy the great rides, great food and great people! Tractor pulls, horse shows, concessions, stage shows, horse and ox pulls, commercial and exposition buildings.

I was driving up on the western end of Rte 112 on Tuesday and took this picture.





This picture is looking back towards Lincoln and the Franconia Range. As you can see Mother Nature is working her magic. I really think this is one of the best Fall Foliage Seasons in many years around here.

We will take the van to Rocky Gorge located off Rt 112. Then we will head back towards Sabbaday Falls and make a stop there.
1:30pm Make Your Own Bird Feeder (FREE EVENT) @ South Mountain
Join us at South Mountain as we take peanut butter, bird seed, and other things to create a bird feeder to attract all the winged creatures in your area! Very quick and easy craft!
4:00pm Gifts in a Jar ($5 per Jar) @ Pollard Brook
Choose between making a layered chocolate brownie mix, spiral festive soup mix, or a special treat for your four legged friends with our layered dog biscuit mix! Take home a special treat as a great gift.
6:00pm S’Mores by the Campfire (FREE EVENT!) @ Pollard Brook
Children and adults are invited to join the recreation team making smores around the campfire. We will provide everything you need!! Campfire is beyond the Jackman Brook Lodge Parking area on the hillside. Event will run for 1 hour.
7:15pm Bingo At Pollard Brook (Entry fee: 1$ per card)
Event will be held in the Fun Factory at Pollard Brook. One dollar per card is required as an entry fee. Bring the entire family, but don’t miss out on all the fun! This is the chance to show us your skills!

You will have a great opportunity to ask Steve all about what you need to know on your vacation! He will give you great ideas for day trips and children’s activities. Also help you with our discounted tickets we offer. Don’t miss out on this!
8:00am Water Mix Aerobics @ Pollard Brook Pool ($10 per person)
Professional water aerobics instructor, Stacee Caulder will lead guests in a 1-hour session at the resort. Stacee will lead guests who are 18 years or older in a high energy water exercise she calls Aqua-Mix Aerobics. The class can accommodate the first 12 people who sign up. The class will be held in the indoor pool at Pollard which will be open exclusively for this class. Participants need not be able to swim but must feel comfortable in the water. A fee of $10 per session will be charged and can be charged to the guest’s unit.

Climb aboard our spectacular bus as we head up to the Windy Ridge Orchard. Cost is $25 per person and includes: your choice of lunch from the Cider House Café at the Windy Ridge Orchard, informational stops at 3 covered bridges, a visit to the oldest General Store in the country, and a stop at At the Hop Ice Cream Shop. 4-5 hour trip.
11:00am Stress Relief Balls (FREE EVENT)
Come down to the fun factory and see how you can make 2 balloons, and some rice into a cool stress relief ball. These can also be used as hackey sacks! Good fun for all ages!
3:00pm Fadden's Sugar House and General Store (Free Event) (Pick up @ both Resorts)
We will head over to North Woodstock and meet with the Fadden Family and see how they make Maple Syrup. You will be able to observe the process in the modern facility as well as see an example of the way it was done in the good ole days.
5:00 pm Wine & Cheese Social (FREE EVENT!)
Join your fellow resort mates for an evening of wine and cheese in a social environment! Event will run approximately 1 hour and will be held in the main lobby at InnSeason Resort Pollard Brook. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided for minors who wish to attend.
8:00PM Cog Video in Lobby of Pollard Brook. (Free Event)
Come watch an informational video about the historic Cog Railway. See why they call it the Railway to the Moon.

Join Meghan for a tour that is still a mystery to her. You might see some covered bridges, wildlife, foliage and whatever else we may come to during our travels!
5:00pm Puzzles and Board Games! (Free Event)
Join other families in our main lobby for a classic game of Checkers, Chess, Backgammon as well as many children’s games to choose from or select from a wide variety of puzzles from the front desk to work on!

6:15pm Pemi Valley Moose Tour ($22 Adults, $16 Children)
Join us for a three hour tour in the White Mountains of New Hampshire on the famous Moose Tour Bus; filled with bubble machines, strobe lights, and many other fun things; as you head out to find some moose! This is not just a 3 hour tour, it is truly an experience! Sign up at the Front Desk!
8:00pm Movie Night (FREE EVENT) @ both Resorts
Come down to the main lobby where we will provide snacks and a PG-13 rated movie for adults and teens to watch. Please bring a drink of your choice, free popcorn will be provided!

9:00am COG Railway—Ride to the top of Mt. Washington, New Hampshire’s Highest Peak
($42 per person CASH ONLY)
The ever-changing surroundings, the magnificent views, the sights and sounds of the unique steam locomotives in action, and some of the steepest Railway tracks in existence all combine to place it among the best of the world’s great railway journeys. This is a trip that must be made to be fully appreciated! Trip is strictly caravan—you must take your own vehicle. This is a Cash Only trip and we must have a minimum of 20 people to go.

9:30am Ultimate Franconia Notch Trip ($20 per person includes ticket into Flume and Cannon Tram)
Climb aboard the company van for a fun filled day packed with exciting activities and sights you do not want to miss out on! We will visit the Flume Gorge and take a ride on the Cannon Mountain Tram to hike at the top of Cannon Mountain. The Basin will be our final stop if time allows.
10:00am Decoupaqe Plates ($3 per plate)
Bring your personal vacation photos, or use our brochures and pamphlets. Choose many different colors of tissue paper and word art to create a wonderful collage of your favorite memories on vacation!
1:30PM Glass Painting ($3-$5 each, depending on which size you choose to paint.) @ Pollard Brook
Use acrylic based paints to create some glass masterpieces! Sizes range from small to large. Held in the Fun Factory at Pollard Brook.

Join the Recreational staff outside and play all sorts of kids games. Freeze Tag, Red Light Green Light, Red Rover, Capture the Flag, Hopscotch, and Sidewalk Chalk. Please sign up in advance. This event geared for children ages 3-8.
4:30pm Candy Bar Bingo At South Mountain (Entry fee: 1 candy bar per card)
Event will be held in the meeting room at South Mountain. One candy bar per card is required as an entry fee. Bring the entire family, but don’t miss out on all the fun! This is the chance to show us your skills!
7:00pm S’Mores by the Campfire at SOUTH MOUNTAIN (FREE EVENT!)
Children and adults are invited to the fire pit at South Mountain to make smores around the campfire. We will provide everything you need to make the perfect smore! The fire pit at South Mountain is in the back next to the outdoor pool.
8:00pm Children’s Movie Night (FREE EVENT)
Come down to the lobby in your pj’s with blankets and pillows to watch a movie the whole family can enjoy. We will provide popcorn, so make sure to bring a drink.
