Governor: Most Major Routes Open, Visitors Can Get to Their Destinations

CONCORD – Most major routes are open and visitors will be able to reach their destinations for the Labor Day Weekend, said Governor John Lynch.
State transportation workers have been out across the state since the end of the storm. As of this morning, all but parts of seven state roads were open. DOT employees are repairing those roads or establishing detours and alternate routes where necessary.
“Visitors should know that they will be able to reach their New Hampshire destinations this Labor Day weekend,” Governor Lynch said. “The forecast is for a great weekend, and we invite out-of-state visitors and our own residents to explore all that New Hampshire has to offer this weekend.”
Visitors can get information about road conditions and road closures by calling 2-1-1 or on line at http://www.nh.gov/dot/511/index.htm.
DOT officials have worked with local officials to establish a detour to allow access to Route 49 and Waterville Valley and Thornton.
DOT is working to establish pedestrian access to Route 302 for residents of Hart’s Location. Drivers can travel on 302 in both directions, but will not be able to cross through the Sawyer’s River Bridge area.
The Kancamagus Highway is closed from Lincoln to Bear Notch Road, but DOT officials expect that sufficient repairs will be completed in time to re-open the road for fall foliage season.
