Loon Events for Independence Weekend (MLK Weekend)

Celebrate Loon's Independence Weekend. Activities for all ages are scheduled both Saturday and Sunday including our annual Torchlight Parade and Fireworks celebration on Saturday evening, January 17.


Below is the full schedule of events.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 17
* Ski with Uncle Sam on Stilts

* Apres ski parties in both Babe’s and Bunyan Room with Bud Light


3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Radio Disney entertains families in the Governor’s Lodge
4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Mo the Balloon Buffoon creates fun balloon creations for all ages in the Octagon Lodge.

4:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m. Chili Challenge at the Village Shops in Lincoln

4:30 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. Snowcat Rides at the base of the Kanc Quad

7:00 p.m. Torchlight Parade, followed by fireworks at the Governor’s Lodge

SUNDAY, JANUARY 18
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Fun, family ski race- Sign up in the Bunyan and race against your family. Registration 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.

11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Sing the “Bernie and Phyl’s” jingle at the Governor’s Lodge and perhaps end up in the next TV commercial.

* Apres-ski parties in both Babe’s and Bunyan Room with Bud Light

Sign up now for your chance to see if your Chili reigns supreme!
Restaurants and individuals are welcome to enter!If you'd rather participate by filling up on the areas best chili, the cost is only $2.00 per person for up to 10 samples!

First place trophies (and bragging rights!) will be awarded for Best Individual Entry and Best Restaurant Entry!
